Re: Rebuilding Dempster 10 ft no 12
Good for you Mike. 8 fts have 2 pins. I have never had a 10 ft, so that's news to me. I would imagine that's not the only difference.

Re: 10’ Dempster #15
I have made many bushings and neckpipes for Dempster mills. I make them from pipe collars. I forget which size. ( maybe 1 inch?) and slot them. Just make sure the slot lines up with the hole in the upper part of the neckpipe. That way the chain comes out right under the pulley. Of course the hole is ...

While you have the front end apart, you might check the oil return passage, and try to scrape the gunk out of it if possible. There might even be goo in there. Goo and gunk are common items. lol

Everyone needs at least one. The good thing about them, if you can understand everything about their design, you can work on anything.
I don't think they are really all that bad.

What did you do, buy a basket case? lol
Normal answer would be to reverse what you did to get it apart. Maybe not in this instance?

Re: Looking for help in Colorado
I think a RR Eclipse takes a tower with a mast inside it. The mast is more or less square shaped with straight legs and rises out of the center of the tower base. Because the wheel is so close to the mast, it doesn't have much room for a taper. Eclipse's have a rigid wheel, and I think usually a ...

Re: 10’ Dempster #15
I have a #15 ,an 8 foot. I never took it apart, as it was workrd over when I got it. By looking inside of it, it appears it was poured with babbitt. Don't know if some came that way, or it was converted. Not near as much inside the helmet as there is in a # 12 model.

Re: Monitor W series mast pipes
All W series Monitors mills had threaded neckpipes. It was a NPS thread, not NPT. However NPS dies are about as scarce as funds in my bank account.
Right there in picture 2 you can see the bottom of the case on the inside where the neckpipe screws into. That is a thin casting. You should use ...
