Re: Pulling the fan from motor

On Monitor Hambone, or WB mills, the wheel is a 4 section wheel, for a 6.5 foot mill. 4 bolts on the front of the hub, 4 bolts on the rear of the hub. With 2 people, take out all 8 while someone steadies the wheel. Then you can move/bend an arm to get them out of the way for removal. It's easier to ...

One time i learned the hard way that when you take a section out of a wheel, it spins to enable the heavier part to be at the bottom. Had a scar running down from above my eye, to about halfway down my che...

Re: Drawings to put together monitor 8ft hambone

6 ft Hambones and W series mills use oval-link chain that is 3/4 or 7/8 link-length. I didn't measure the piece I have at the shop, but it would be a size larger for 8 footers. Like maybe 1 or 1 1/8. I stay far away from twist-link chain for Monitor mills. For the life of me, I cannot ever remember ...

Re: Pulling out fan and motor

I have a neighbor who took up 6 ft Aermotors on his shoulder when he was young. Then built the wheel and put the tail on. That I can imagine.

Re: A602 Rebuild Project

I think so. Considering water runs around 8 pounds a gallon. But I have no idea how much the tank-towers held.

Re: Pulling out fan and motor

You cannot lift the mill, fan, and tail out of the tower by hand. Well, unless you have very close hereditary connection to either Samson, or Arnold.

Re: Surprise find at my great grandfather's old home in Texas

Many many yeas ago my uncle was born and raised down there in Tx somewhere. they offered his dad a Dr Pepper franchise to take to the pacific northwest where dr pepper was not heard of yet. so they packed up and moved. The rest is history. Some of my fondest memories are going up there to visit them...

Sounds like a listing for the "looking for parts" section?
