Re: Stop leak?
In my limited shaft replacement experience on Aermotors, I have used some gasket maker when inserting the key.
Good idea. In this case, I was using the original hub with the originally installed shaft, so the key was also already installed.
I did poke some epoxy putty down into the keyway on ...

Re: Stop leak?
Update:
I did do the stop leak, and then JB weld. A couple of hours of sitting on my workbench filled with water, and I saw no leaks. Yay. I painted the hub, reassembled the motor, and proceeded with the rest of the rebuild.

Re: What's going on here Aermotor 702 Please help!
You say there is a gap between 585 and the tailbone "when completely furled." The governor spring should be pulling the tailbone up against the stop on the 585. If the 585 is not moving far enough, there ordinarily would not be a gap between tailbone and 585; there would be a gap between the 659 ...

oil for pump jack
Greetings.
Anybody know what type/weight of oil is recommended to use in pump jacks? I still have a few customers who use them to back up their windmills when the wind doesn't blow. Around here (western Wisconsin) most of the pump jacks were made by the Duples company and have worm gears on a ...

Re: Stop leak?
Maybe try first, then if needed. If so, you could do that on the tower, however it won't hurt anything to put it on anyway.
I just purchased some radiator stop leak and will try that tomorrow, and then JB Weld as well. This mill is for a customer so I certainly do not want to wait until the mill ...

Re: A602
The A602 main shaft babbitt is actually three separate bearings.
The one at the outer end of the snout is maybe 3 1/2" or 4" long and has an oil passage on the top of the bearing that runs back toward the motor from the oil collector. This passage is the RETURN passage for oil scraped from the ...

Stop leak?
I'm rebuilding an Aermotor B602. Manufacture date 1922. Cupped turntable, drain on bottom front of the gearbox. No plugs to drive out pinion pins. No U-bolt holes in hub.
i have the motor disassembled, have done needed repairs and am preparing to reassemble. I did a bit of welding on the hub to ...

Re: Woodmanse Mogul
I took down a 12' Mogul years ago. Wound up selling it to Ralph Wiebusch, who had it re-galvanized and installed it to re-circulate water from a small pond.

Re: Aermotor A-702 Missing Something
Looks like you may also have the X609 furl lever for the six footer. You need the A609 for the 8' mill.
