Re: Windmill Trash bags

Honey Buns $3.99 a box. They have some very nice posters for each department with windmills on them, too.

Re: Pump Rod Art

20190518_110522.jpg I have North, South, East and West road signs that I hang from the pump rod. Since my tower has anti-rotation fittings for pump rod guides, the directionals never change. I've been know to place a modified version of a "DO NOT PASS" road sign on or near a tower, too. T...

Re: Fence Repair

I would expect there to be some parts left at the scene to identify the make and model of the hit & run perp. Then I would start looking for a vehicle that's apparently still driveable or have you ID'd the driver? Start by looking at all local school parking lots and markets and malls. Then I'd ...

Re: Stub Tower Placement

Me thinks that is not an Aermotor tower. So, some cutting and drilling is going to be happening. Just sit the stub tower side to side on your 40'er and adjust for angle and side span equality. Don't forget about overlap when you mark it up !

Re: Stub Tower Placement

20190428_152541.jpg All I would add to the discussion that will surely follow is to make sure that when you have it attached that you can reach the top bonnet nut from the platform ! Otherwise, you are going to have trouble adding oil, adjusting the brake and a few other things. Don't set it too lo...

I was at a flea market this past weekend and saw a box with old but unused faucet handles for sale. It reminded me of this thread topic

Re: Estimate of pull-out wire/cable force A-602

Breakout force is about 100 lbs, which then drops to 80 lbs as the tail starts to move. This drops to 60 lbs and lower as it approaches full closure because of the increasing mechanical advantage of the furl rod angles. I need to measure displacement of the cable to set the position of the cable tie...

Estimate of pull-out wire/cable force A-602

OK, now have a last detail to address on my recently raised A-602. I'm using the original solid wire to draw down the pull-out lever up top. At the base, what is the approximate force required to pull in the tail and push on the brake bolt head ? I've seen some drawings and photos of pull-out levers...

Re: Raising an A-602 as One Unit

Hoop was PERFECT balance point. All done from the ground. Had to climb up to the platform to release the sling. Mast pipe came out about 1/8" over the crank-case. Only thing remaining is to screw in the pump rod and hook up an air bellows (making it an "AirMotor"). Just a few small 1/...

Raising an A-602 as One Unit

Any day now (waiting for weather), I will be installing an old A-602 Aermotor up onto its tower. This mill was complete wreckage. I dis-assembled it, slip rolled the fan blades, replaced some angle iron and put it all back together. Only the bullet holes remain to remind us of it's battle scars. I o...
