Check area under windmill….
As you approach a windmill (or wind charger), make sure you check the area around the base. Tendency is to look up as you approach. Fortunately I was weed eating and not walking up to release the brake. I generally carry a 9mm w/snake shot when I weed eat for this reason. He’s about 3’…definitely wo...

Re: Windmill parts - delivery to the 2024 Trade Fair
Glad you’re going to make it Corey. I look forward to seeing you there… I like wind electric oddities. I’ll have a pretty full load of wind electric and windmill parts I’m delivering or hauling for other folks not going. I have a list of oddities I’m looking for: Yaw post for large Wincharger Stream...

Re: New here from Southern Ohio
The 32v version looks very similar to the 110v and it was the only brochure I have. Thought it might be useful. Your 85 yr old machine was designed to charge 55, 2v glass jar, lead acid batteries connected in series. I’m not familiar with a modern battery equivalent or controllers so I wouldn’t atte...

Re: Wincharger 110 volt 1,000 watt?
Most of these were 32V and intended to charge batteries. The 1000W rating is peak power. In average wind conditions you can expect maybe 15% of that on average ….plenty for a farm in 1939. Be cautious of 110V DC, much more lethal than 110V AC. The 110v option wasn’t as popular because it required 55...

Re: New here from Southern Ohio
I don’t see the prop, stub tower or controller. All things I probably have. It does appear to be NOS so I’m hoping you make it a display piece. It’s not a particularly rare model but it is rare to find one so nice. It dates to about 1939. My contact info is in my profile if I can help you locate the...

Re: fly ball governors or electric dump load
I believe the voltage regulator was a kit option for the 1222H model. I opened the box of a NOS one and snapped a couple pics. Hope it helps.

Re: fly ball governors or electric dump load
Not sure I have an answer you’re looking for. I’m really only familiar with (and a fan of) the early machines which were all DC. Dump resistors weren’t in their vocabulary. The last thing you want to do with a DC gen is wear out the brushes and throw the power away. Some of the mfg did have field co...
