Re: "New" tower to haul home before deep snow comes
I don't know very much about towers, and especially not Aermotor towers, but I can tell you that you got the 4th pic. caption EXACTLY right! ("Highway debris waiting to happen or you're not hauling that to the scrap yard are you.." )LOL!!! I had a couple of chunks of rope around it all, I ...

Re: My new "tower-brace-rod-straightener"
Here's one of the ways I straighten bent tower legs/braces/angle iron. If the angle is really twisted up, I use a heavy (1/2" x 6" x 6') piece of angle for my anvil. My sledge hammer sometimes helps but some clamps and big monkey/crescent wrenches do a lot too. When I get the piece all hea...

Re: Aermotor tower :Round screw heads instead of square
Thanks for the photos!! Is your pic of the tower laying down like this drawing? In my attached diagram, are the "X" shaped braces called trusses? There are a number of them in all of the parts I just bought and when I rebuild the 3 leg tower with an A702, I'd like to configure it like that...

Re: Aermotor tower :Round screw heads instead of square
Thanks Ron....Are the horizontals in the pictures attached correctly? That is, on the outside surface of the legs?

Aermotor tower :Round screw heads instead of square
I was taking the three leg Aemotor tower apart and the horizontal angle iron and brace rods are held with bolts with round, screw type heads. First of all, they don't come apart easily without exactly the right screw driver, or sometimes, vise-grips, and because the nut is tucked tightly under the a...

My new "tower-brace-rod-straightener"
With all of my new bent tower parts, I thought I'd start straightening. I looked through my drawers of "I'LL NEED THAT ONE DAY" parts and came up with some garage door cable pulleys, threaded rod, strut channel, a couple of springs, and some angle iron. Instead of anything fancy, I use the...

Re: "New" tower to haul home before deep snow comes
Well, I hauled about four hay racks of parts into town and laid it out on my front yard so I could try and figure out what I had just paid for! I'll include some photos just to give you an idea of what some of the stuff looked like. In the end, I got four towers (three 4 leg and one 3 leg). They all...

Re: Aermotor 3-Leg Stub
Your pile of stuff is far better than mine! I buy windmill stuff when I run across it even if I don't know how, or when I'll use it. This afternoon I looked in my "spare parts" bins and found these three legs, an "A" mast pipe casting, and what seems to be a three-legged tower cl...

Aermotor 3-Leg Stub
I couldn't resist and I bought the A702 with the 723 hub. It is already apart and almost completely degreased. It came with a three-legged mast pipe and casting but no legs. I've only had 4-legged projects so I'm wondering: If I have 4-legged stub legs in my spare parts, can I just use three of the ...
