I don't know a thing about Phase Converters...

I couldn't resist some auction "bargains", so here I go again! One of the things I bought is a 3HP Whitney hydraulic punch that is set up to do angle iron. It's in great shape and came with a bucket of dies that can make round, square, oblong, and rectangular holes. I have plenty of 220V single ...

Re: Terry Rodman

I was sorry to hear of Terry's passing. My wife and I first stopped at his place several years ago and even though we were complete strangers, he welcomed us as if we were family. He had us hop into his pickup and we rode around his yard looking at his windmills and he'd stop the truck, jump out ...

Re: Beatty Windmill Regulator

Thanks, Beverly!

Lately, I'ver been looking for regulators that I can rebuild and then mount them on the tower to test/demonstrate how they work. (I live in town and just have "spinners" on 20' towers.) It's been fun to watch my 10' Aermotor get pulled out of the wind, and then get released and ...

Re: A beautiful warm and sunny fall to try to catch up on projects...

I forgot to say, the 14' power mill is at Dan Benjamin's shop right now. I had patterns for the gears made which were poured at a foundry in Sioux City and then machined in Hospers, Iowa. Everything fit together okay but there was a spot in the gear rotation that seemed a bit "sticky" and I asked ...

IMG_9664.jpeg #1. Put up the tower for my 14' Southern Cross. (It's cemented in and the gearbox work is almost finished)
#2. Just stood up my Eli tower and it will be cemented into the ground by tomorrow night. (The ELI machine is close to being finished) I included a vintage ELI photo--Check out ...

Re: Bolt on Windmill weights

Over the years, I've had a couple of ancient power hacksaws that have used cast iron weights with mounting holes like those.

Re: Windmill and tower markings - black paint / ink

The best thing that happened to me was finding an odd, round shaped brush at a garage sale (see photo): I couldn't resist a bargain even though I didn't know what it was for. Then a couple of years later, someone said, "what are you going to do with that stencil brush?" It didn't even occur to me ...

Re: My "NEW" pump

I guess what I'm trying to ask is, does a pump with this kind of gearing pump MORE water per stroke? Or, maybe, is it designed to lift water EASIER?
It might be interesting to see what claims an advertisement from that time would say. I'm going to check some of my old catalogs and see what I can ...

Re: My "NEW" pump

If I wanted a well pump for my pioneer homestead, why wouldn't I use just a simple/standard pump rather than pay more for the gears and all the parts of this one? I know the grill work is prettier but are there other advantages?
