Even more progress on the WC 8.....

Got this WC 8 hanging in my pole shed until it warms up some time next spring. Too cold for me for windmill stuff here in Central MN. Got it together a bit more, still want to tweak the wheel a bit to make it run more true. Otherwise a good two coats of cold galvanizing compound with a bit of thinne...

Re: WC 8 mill....making progress.

Thanks for the encouraging responses. It gives me more motivation. I will probably be thinking about it all winter until spring during the cold winter months I know is coming.........now to find some redwood for the tower platform. I like the wood look.

WC 8 mill....making progress.

Hey everyone. It's been a while since I posted on here. I am making progress on that Monitor WC 8 mill I posted pics on a while back on the technical forum. I think this mill was a very early version of the WC because of the upper bearing turntable race being different and it has a bushing underneat...

I want to paint the WC 8

Hello all, I'm getting to the point where I want to paint the gearbox on my Baker WC8. I want to paint it a red color. 30 years ago I painted another mill with "Pittsburg Brilliance" Red, in a rattle can. It held up great all these years! They no longer make it in a rattle can. Is there a ...

Re: WC 8 oiling ring question

Thanks Windybob. That's kind of what I was thinking too. It looks like I may have to carefully bend or maybe even file the very back of the arm WC7. It is very close to the back of the case and I think maybe the casting of the WC7 arm may have been a bit off too. But FIRST, I will try carefully bend...

WC 8 oiling ring question

Hello, should the oiling ring on a WC8 be moving constantly? Mine moves about half then hangs up on back of the arm WC7 when it moves in the upper position. The new ring assembly runs straight and true, but even with a bit of "tweeking" the ring stops when it hits the back of WC7 near the ...
