I have a few RA and older mills. I also have a couple V tails, 2 of them have remains of original red lettering. We were just talking about this at the trade fair, doesn't seem to be any definite time or reason why they painted some black. The later RA mills had a "normal" tail however the lettering ...

Muller Industries was a company that made replacement Aermotor parts.

Justin , spoke with George C. today , i am looking for another project , he said you bought back the 2 open gear Aermotor's , only has a dissembled 702 , maybe if he is not able to get to the Trade Fair I can bring them up there to you ?

That looks like an old Muller made tail. Before the days of lasers that was easier to make than the curved angle iron like the originals.
