Justin , spoke with George C. today , i am looking for another project , he said you bought back the 2 open gear Aermotor's , only has a dissembled 702 , maybe if he is not able to get to the Trade Fair I can bring them up there to you ?

If you send me your 730 sleeve and 752 housing I will repour them. Will pour a new 708 bearing. I have all the jigs to pour them and have a 16 in the shop getting rebuilt now. Call or text me if your interested 715-553-1346

That looks like an old Muller made tail. Before the days of lasers that was easier to make than the curved angle iron like the originals.

You are correct, you could a bell hub on the newer frames. I had an r/a last year that had a bell hub on it. Same way as the 602 style hub on a 702 was available into the the mid to late 40's.

That case can be welded and built back up. Done them before. Or you can cut the snout off and weld a different on one. I have a bunch of snouts of you choose to go that route. If your going to weld a shoot on you’ll need to make yourself a shaft to hold it together and straight so it doesn’t pull ...

I haven't opened up the gearbox yet. It's a blizzard so will wait until weather gets nicer. So fun fact on the 502 failure, Aermotor had the 602 changes and drawings in their shop May of 1914 (date on the original blue print) before the 502 even came out. So they must have known the 502 ...

This particular tower is not an open gear tower. It had a very early 602 on it. When I get time I’ll have to clean up main shaft and see if I can find the date on it. Guessing 1916/1917. It’s a flat bottom gearbox with plug in hub that takes spanner wrench. The mast pipe froze up and broke off right ...
