Re: AERMOTER OPEN GEAR INFO
You are correct, you could a bell hub on the newer frames. I had an r/a last year that had a bell hub on it. Same way as the 602 style hub on a 702 was available into the the mid to late 40's.

Re: How screwed am I?
That case can be welded and built back up. Done them before. Or you can cut the snout off and weld a different on one. I have a bunch of snouts of you choose to go that route. If your going to weld a shoot on you’ll need to make yourself a shaft to hold it together and straight so it doesn’t pull ...

Re: Tower in WI
Thanks Dan,
I haven't opened up the gearbox yet. It's a blizzard so will wait until weather gets nicer. So fun fact on the 502 failure, Aermotor had the 602 changes and drawings in their shop May of 1914 (date on the original blue print) before the 502 even came out. So they must have known the 502 ...

Re: Tower in WI
This particular tower is not an open gear tower. It had a very early 602 on it. When I get time I’ll have to clean up main shaft and see if I can find the date on it. Guessing 1916/1917. It’s a flat bottom gearbox with plug in hub that takes spanner wrench. The mast pipe froze up and broke off right ...

Re: Aermoter parts
I see those directions from time to time. probably had 2 or 3 or them in the last 50 mills that those directions where still readable. Still a neat find for sure!

Re: Aeromotor Sail Parts and Pieces
Defiantly check the inside of the hub. If its to worn you have to weld it up and turn it back down in the lathe. Not the funnest thing to do but sometimes that's what the job requires.

Re: Windmill 702 saerch
Thanks! Since I took that picture I have added the 14' to the line. I've got the 20' in the shop, needs to be assembled. And the 10' should be put up this spring. Hopefully have the complete lineup done by this coming fall if paying projects don't get in the way first.

Re: Windmill 702 saerch
I make 702 windmills and also rebuild. I have most anything you could need for 6'-12' mills. You're welcome to call me 715-553-1346. I can crate and ship whatever you would like. I attached a couple pictures of 6' mills on 21' towers Ive done in the last year or so. Thanks Justin
