Re: What’s A Good Price?
Yeah I’m just trying to get an idea as what to expect in all reality I will probably wait until after Christmas to crack open the old rusty wallet. You know after Santa has bled me down I will have to wait to see what I got left!

Re: Freeman Clipper 6' windmill
I guess what I fail to see is what takes the thrust load when the wind is at the mills back ( turned out of the wind ). I can see maybe a thrust washer at the very back of the hub shaft bearing cap maybe that’s it. Honestly I have hard time seeing how things work with just my eyes sometimes in pics ...

Re: Freeman Clipper 6' windmill
Yeah now that you say it I do think I can see it. I guess thrust one way or another wasn’t to big a deal to the engineers hey & it’s lasted this long and it’s much older than me so who am I to judge

Re: What’s A Good Price?
Yeah that’s about what I figured. It seems not a lot of mills left in my part of Texas & when you do find one they seem think it’s solid gold or it seems sometimes they had rather let it set & rot as the vines pull it down instead of parting with it but I understand I’m fond of my junk to😂. ...

Re: Freeman Clipper 6' windmill
I know this topic is a few months old but I just wanted to say cool looking mill. I am curious though I do not see anything that’s takes the thrust on wheel shaft. Would it not need collars or bearings/washers on both sides to be able to handle the thrust for both directions for when it’s in and whe...

What’s A Good Price?
I’ve been kicking around the idea of trying to get an Aermotor 702 or a Challenge 27 head & fan that’s complete but needs rebuilding etc. I guess because I like doing that kinda stuff. I’m not up on prices, I’m not a real windmiller so I don’t know much about what’s a good deal vs bad deal. I kn...

Re: Windmill bearings
I have limited bearing experience when it come to windmills, but I have much experience with different types of bearings in various other types of mechanisms. Below I will list my opinions based of what I have seen. Disclaimer I’m not an engineer nor have I conducted any test in a controlled environ...
