Re: My 14' Power Aermotor
In regard to the tractor questions, the large one in the back is a 30-60 Aultman Taylor. The one that looks like a steam tractor is indeed a gas-powered tractor with a two-cylinder engine. It is a very interesting crossover between the steam and gas tractors. The "boiler" is full of water and has ...

Re: My 14' Power Aermotor
How are you planning on cutting the teeth on your bevel gears? Hobbing or using involute cutters on a straight cut gear is not a huge deal, bevel gears can be a whole other animal.
Here are a couple photos of a bevel gear that we did a few years back. It was just done as a raw casting (with good ...

Re: Baker Model L Rebuild
Here is a photo of the ring I will use to make a fixture to braze this part back together. It is nice when you have a friend with a CNC plasma cutter.

Re: Baker Model L Rebuild
For this part I'm leaning towards brazing it. Here is it rough tacked together. I think I will make a fixture up to hold it and braze all three cracks at once...

Re: Baker Model L Rebuild
As I remember it was for a Stover. We also have some heat exchangers to do for an Ottawa engine for the same friend.

Re: Baker Model L Rebuild
Yes, cast iron welds is something I have done before. Since the breaks are so clean, and the holes appear to be in decent shape I am leaning towards repairing this one. Right now, I am working on a fixture plate to make the repair easier. I am debating between torch welding and brazing for this part ...

Baker Model L Rebuild
As my first windmill project I am working on a Baker Model L. This machine has been well used and appears to be mostly, if not all complete. The only thing I know that I am missing is the concrete counterweight. This is the first part cleaned and, in this case, ready to be repaired.

Re: another one
If the right one is your new one you should be ok. On a gear you need the pitch (the tooth size) to match and the pressure angle to match, if you don't have the same pitch and angle the gears won't mesh properly.
Congratulations on your repair!

Re: another one
Which of the gears is your new eBay gear? Those gears look to be the same pitch, however they are different pressure angles. One looks to be a 14.5 degree PA and the other the more modern 20 degree PA.
