Obscure question: I know the text on the tail vane sheet of Samson mills was always black, but what color were the main castings and hubs painted? I've seen a restored AirFlow with bright green castings, a restored Samson M with red castings, and an S with black. Were there different colors for ...

Thanks for the tips, guys! I'm not quite ready to do anything, yet...just kind of "thinking ahead". I've seen a few Dempsters on wood towers, with steel stubs, and wondered if the stubs were bought or made from scratch/scrap.

I know Aermotor makes and markets stubs so someone can put an Aermotor mill on any other make of tower, but did Dempster? In the 2 Dempster catalogs I've come across online, they only list full towers. Does anyone have any information on this?

I asked the seller if they have any pictures of the "Aermotor", and stated that the tower is NOT an Aermotor tower. They also have an auction for "Windmill Vane and Tailbone Assembly Antique SAMSON", which actually IS a Samson Air-Flow vane and vane stem, and another for what they're calling ...

That's a view I could happily get used to! My hope is to (someday) turn a grain-bin into a gazebo/cabana, with a windmill next to it.

I live not far from Sigourney. I might go, just to look...no $$ to bid, sadly. Someday, my mill will come....
