Re: Windmill hand pump construction

Bryon You really dont say how far down to static water level? In theory at sea level, a pump cylinder will pull water from about 30' above static. I say in theory as you have to get the leathers wet to swell to work and fill the line between the cylinder and check valve to prime. A cylinder above w...

Re: Windmill hand pump construction

There are spring loaded pins to do what you are talking about to disconnect from the hand pump. I've seen them before. The picture I have of my Mama pumping water with the pump under our windmill. The pump rod from the windmill is disconnected and put to the side. I figure it was something simple a...

Windmill hand pump construction

Hello, I'm in the process of building a pumper and need some advice. We have an Aermotor 702A w/21' tower, and a Baker Monitor 12HD pump stand with a 2" x 10" pump cylinder that will mount to a 5" or 6" well casing. A few questions: What should I use to connect the pump rod on th...

Re: Bryon from Davisburg MI

Awesome! Folks here are happy to help. There is a section for wind chargers, and Mike is the best. The Aermotor in the picture may very well be a pumper, but to know, the helmet should come off and be looked at. Also, it contains oil, and needs to be checked. Look on the cast parts, and on the fron...

Bryon from Davisburg MI

Hello all, I'm just getting started in this hobby and hoping to learn from those of you who have kept it alive. Last summer we fulfilled my fiancé's dream of having a windmill on the farm. I found a guy near us in Oxford MI that had Chicago 702A mills for sale from Nebraska (he has more), and it was...
