Re: Help with mill id

Ya know I glanced at it and figured it was just cement. But since you said that I looked closer at what is left of the top half and it's a bunch of metal circles all rusted in a clump! I probably never would have given any thought. I bet the guy who first suggested that got a raise! Hahaha

Re: Help with mill id

Thank you thank you haha. Good news is the crosshead is still here, wedged between the two gear covers. But it is indeed missing the guide rods and the pitman arms

Re: Woodmanse steel back gear.

Well I couldn't really find one that was the proper size that I liked for it, so I think I'll just stick with babbitt for this one. Plus I already have a whole ingot of babbitt I bought so I want to use it haha. I suppose I'll try it with the mill upside down first. If it goes well I'll make several...

Re: Woodmanse steel back gear.

Doesn't seem to be any way to oil it other than just slapping some grease on it. Looks like it was designed to be changed out rather quick and easily if you had a new one premade. I'll probably make 2 to have a spare. Yes I think the stripe is just to keep it from rotating, doesn't really seem like ...
