Stub tower ID

Can anyone tell me the make of this stub tower i have? It had an Appleton mill on it, but it was heavily modified with a model a transmission and the stub tower looked more of just a work stand so not sure if its actually an Appleton tower.

Re: A602

I had the gearbox off the mast pipe before i thought to take pictures of it. It looked to be in good shape from what i could tell, no noticable bends. Gunna try to finish up my F&W before really tearing into it. When i get to it I'll definitely be pulling the gearbox apart to see how bad it is and ...

Re: A602

And heres all the bent stuff. Not awful, are the 3 smashed sections worth straightening or just find some decent used sections?

Re: A602

Mast pipe looks nice and straight, head rotates all the way around pretty easily.

The big gears rub the bottom/side of the case from sitting so low without a bearing, but have not worn into it yet. Only thing broken seems to be the brake arm ...

A602

As Mike had said in the listing post, someone has definitely been in here before. Both pitmans had been snapped. No bearing left on the big gears and pitmans pretty sloppy. But surprisingly very little play on the main shaft.

Re: Watch for tripping hazards

True. Although if it would have meant saving the hub spider, i would have taken a few extra scrapes and bruises. Skin heals a little faster than cast iron hahaha

Re: Appleton Goodhue windmill

I have not. Dan Benjamin made me some new blades that he will bring to the trade fair for me, so kinda waiting on that. All the motor needs is new bearings poured. Most of work will be making the tail vane look nice. It's rusted pretty bad, will need to find a stencil for the lettering somehow.
