Re: Woodmanse steel back gear.

Were woodmanse painted white? If so it looks like mine still has some original paint on it

Re: Flint and walling wheel?

I also stopped by Wayne's on the way back after getting the wheel and he had just the counter weight for an Elgin wonder. But it looks the same as the busted weight on my Tip Top so he forced me to take it!

Re: Flint and walling wheel?

Some are riveted, some are bolted, must have had some sails replaced at one time

Re: Woodmanse steel back gear.

That's what I had thought, thanks y'all!

Finally got the babbitt figured out on the top. Used a short pipe connector that was just slightly bigger in diameter than the pump rod and a piece of rope wrapped around the bottom to seal it off

Re: Woodmanse steel back gear.

Quick question, do all woodmanse wheels rotate counter clockwise? Or did they make some clockwise rotating wheels?

Re: Flint and walling wheel?

If sail ties are the only way to tell it from some other wheel, that's close enough for me, it certainly looks f&w from the few pics I could find online. Finally the last missing part to my first windmill. Just have to drive all the way to Fort Worth to get it.. haha
