Re: Aermotor - New vs Refurbished
Towers are plentiful and not as rusty out this way. We go through them and they wind up being half the cost of new. In 25 years of doing this, I have never bought a new tower. There are more non aermotor towers in these two stacks of eight foot towers than I like but they were already stubbed for ae...

Re: General Advice
You really didn't say how long it pumped after releather. But if it was more than a month I don't think pipe dope is the issue. The most likely is rod disconnect or hole in pipe.

Pump truck/pump hoist rig/pulling unit. There are 5 different manufacturers 20240603_144759.jpg 20240603_145317.jpg The rigs are not quite as common in the East because of higher water table and a lot of submersibles are set on poly pipe. The rigs run on hydraulics either from the truck PTO or as mi...

Re: General Advice
Valuable additional info requested: Did it pump after releather for awhile? Does sucker rod shudder on down stroke? If rod is uncoupled, the sucker rod will feel loose. General advice: Lube of pump rod base or A62 isnt as relevant as having an anti swivel pump pole support in the tower for open top ...

Re: Greetings from western Virginia
Hey Paul, you should apply some discretion to the quick litmus of distinguishing between an 8 and 10. This tower is a good example where discretion is appropriate. The half step/full step only works with a legitimate Aermotor tower. The test relies on rung spacing per a standardized easy-to-build-up...

There are lots of different entities on the Rez and more specifically the Navajo Rez. The true Navajo tribal lands wells and windmills are handled out of Fort Defiance AZ and mostly done by their own crews. There are also Navajo Partition Lands and Hopi Partition Lands. These lands were created when...

Re: Threading 7/16 galvanized rod
Bart, just rez work and they supply. In some ways I like it, other ways no. Setups with it need good wood pump pole to break as airtight doesnt bend or break. A jammed cylinder on Rez blew the whole side out of a new 16' motor.

Re: Threading 7/16 galvanized rod
Weight of a rod does Influence the pumping capacity. Here is a chart of pumping capacity that Baker has in his 702 book. In the left margin are my handwritten notes of the weight per stick. 20240519_074413.jpg I had one Arizona customer that I sold windmill parts to that sourced his own drop pipe er...

You might talk to Hitzer of Heller Aller hand pumps. They recently had to source a new foundry for their hand pumps. I would have thought that Preferred would centrally buy and then shuffle between stores I know they shuffle other items between stores. Freight is getting to be a major cost factor. F...
