Re: Threading 7/16 galvanized rod
May be a silly question, but humor a “newbie”. What would be the indication/benefits of using steel rod vs. fiberglass rod (or vice versa)? Weight? Cost? Durability? Thanks! Neat stuff!

Re: Don’s Windmills
As a “final” (sorta) follow up, my furl handle arrived on Saturday (it was drop-shipped from Wind Engine in Laredo, since Dean Bennett didn’t have it on hand). So—ordered late Sunday night. Cylinder and extra leathers arrived Wednesday. Furl handle (which required drop-shipping from another location...

Re: Don’s Windmills
Yeah, Denver Winpump (Dean Bennett), is dealing in Wind Engine stuff. Since it’s just a furl handle, I wasn’t too worried. The cylinder I got IS a Midland, made in Fort Worth, TX. Midco is a division of Midland (doesn’t make cylinders, but makes flanges/etc for municipal water systems). Were you thi...

Re: Don’s Windmills
Good to know. I basically ordered because they were Texas-based, had “genuine Aermotor parts”, and had free shipping on many of them. Still haven’t heard a WORD from them. Had to order a pump cylinder, so went ahead and ordered the same “$65 part”, as well, from Dean Bennett Supply. Had to make a sm...

Don’s Windmills
Anyone ever dealt with “Don’s Windmills” (Pearland, TX)?? (Also doing business as “Windmill Fans of Texas”) Ordered a part 2 weeks ago, got an order confirmation, and no info since. Have tried to contact through email, phone, business cell phone, and contact page on website. (Yes, all “politely”.) N...

Re: 2023 Trade Fair - Buy, Sell, Trade
If anyone is passing through Amarillo (I won’t be able to make it to the fair), I would be interested in buying multiple sail sections (up to a complete fan, if price is right) for an A702. Would be interested in a few other parts as well (for the A702, and possibly a Dempster #12-6’) Lemme know if ...

Re: getting to the trade fair . . .
Do NOT do Dallas. Going I-35W through FW is always a crapshoot. Sometimes you fly, sometimes you sit. Even though going AROUND FW using WEST Loop may LOOK way longer, it’s only a few extra miles, and is ALWAYS the safer bet. Worst case, it MIGHT take an extra 8-10 minutes, vs. getting through I-35W ...
