Re: Stub tower ID

I believe you’re correct in calling it an Appleton or at least the castings appear so. I have the same tower cap under my Butler, on a stub in my shop, as it fit and I understood the 903 to be Appleton when I researched it a few years back. I can’t speak for the X cross bracing strap, so those might ...

Re: Aermotor MX 1

Mike,

That is neat and in great shape. I always thought the bonnet was tin, but I’ve never laid a hand on one so it was an assumption. Looking online, the bonnet seems to vary by model.

There was one for sale about a year ago about a hour north of me. I regret not buying it. I seem to recall it ...

Re: A602

I’d still take the gearbox off the mast pipe and look the mast pipe over. Good time to check the turntable cup and washer too.

Re: Windmills from Australia

Australia has some neat windmills and some big ones too. Nice photos.

Many of the towers that I see on Australian windmills make me think of the Axtell towers that lack galvanization or are otherwise rusty. Makes me wonder if they were plan steel, galvanized or cadmium plated. Axtell towers were ...

I saw that, but the angle of the photo had me second guessing myself.

Edit:
It looks like it is there.

Re: A602

Looks to be in decent shape.

When you pull the hub/shaft, you can check the main bearing babbit as you’ll need to add a spout washer that is either missing or broken. When it fell, is the mast pipe straight or did it bend in the fall?
