Re: Need a Fairbanks Morse WG drain plug bolt

I bought two from HomeDepot for my Baker Monitor WC rebuilt. They are typically common, like Dan said.

Re: Degreaser

Thank you. I sort of feel like it had the equivalent of two 14oz grease cartridges worth of grease in it. Even the mast pipe had a good amount of grease in it. As greasy as it was, it cleaned up pretty well and was in pretty good shape. It is getting a new bronze front bushing. The bushing was worn,...

Re: Degreaser

Mike, I’ll have to look into Varsol. Thank you. It really only cost me 2 cans of degreaser and 2 cans of brake cleaner…so $13. The brake cleaner worked great in the snoot oil channels. I used a little diesel and had a supply of Zep on hand. Plus it cost me a roll of paper towels, more so for my hand...

I used some generic degreaser, Zep and brake cleaner at different points was well as a little diesel fuel and a pressure washer. It was a mess to ...

Re: Monitor WB question

Thank you While on the W series, I have two WC vanes with tailbones. One is the older style and one is the newer vertical style. I’ve rebuilt a WC long neck, so the older style vane with 1937 stenciled is most appropriate for it. IMG_0395.jpeg I noted the tailbone affixed to each vane style have dif...

Re: Monitor WB question

Windybob and others, How often (or do you ever) use threaded studs/all thread and a nut, verses bolts and washers for W series bonnet? The two bolts that hold on the bonnet is what I’m referring to. I am finishing up on a WC rebuild and I often shake my head trying to line up the bolts. Any cons in ...

Most of what you’re replying to was related to WindyBobs prior message. He can explain it best. The latch is one of these: IMG_4582.jpeg There is some Baker literature via the below link. https://vintagewindmillforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=84 From memory, the 7th link on the chain is the typically acce...
