Tail lettering says it's a No 8. Can't really see the gearbox to confirm, but I would say it's likely an 8.

Jerry, There is no date stamped on the inside of a Dempster gearbox. Early Dempster #12 windmills did have a year date put on the tail logo, but that stopped in the early 30s. Very late produced Dempsters also had a tag put on the outside of the gearbox. I've never seen an actual tag, but have seen ...

The only tower I've seen with folded sheet metal ladder steps is stover. However, I've only seen 4 legged, not 3 legged. Stover also have eccentric tightening washers, just a slight bit smaller in size than Dempster.

I agree with Grezmonki! Dempster late model #12 sails actually have rounded off ends on this band slot, which I think they did to prevent stress cracks from forming which seems to be common on squared off slots.
