Re: Vane/Tail stop

First pic....That's it, but it was broken off right at the rivets.... where it angles up.
Thoughts on how to address?

Thanks!

Re: Vane/Tail stop

Here are some pics:

There was a broken piece of metal about 1.5" x 2" riveted to the tail frame. I had to use a grinder to get it off.

Thoughts?

Remember it is an 8' Fairbury.

Thanks!

Vane/Tail stop

Do most vanes/tails have some sort of stop to keep it from slamming into the gear case? I'm working on an old 8' Fairbury and there is something on the tail frame that was broken off and I can see where it has hit the case. Do I Really Need the Pump Rod?

I had posted earlier asking about a weight on the pump rod for an ornamental set up ( no water to pump).

Now I'm thinking, do I really need the pump rod?

Might the gears start turning too fast?

Thanks!

Vane Spring

I'm trying to find a spring to use on a 8' Fairbury. Any idea how much load the spring should have? 50 lbs? 100?

Doesn't this control the speed it furls?

Thanks!
