Looks like a Baker-Monitor type "L" 10' wheel , concrete football counterweight , at the Lake Atwood entrance off of hwy 25 .

The “governor arm” # OK6 is still on the mill it appears , the missing stem will be whatever size iron pipe slides into the sleeve .....I'd be curious about what all is hooked on the chain thats all wrapped up in the works ....

The pictures are all great , but I don't believe that the original posted picture is from the 1893 Exposition . It seems to be a smaller and maybe a little later show , like maybe even a state fair , but still great machinery (and a picture I'd never seen). When I look at those pictures , I'd like ...

Looks like the top of an "Erie" clamshell governor , would have sat on a (missing) valve that throttled the steam into a steam engine . Belt would have gone from the crankshaft , up to a (missing) pulley on the bevel gear shaft . Governors for steam engines were kind of like aftermarket parts ...

Quite possible , probably as easy to get in Texas as coal or wood . Fresh water , while just as necessary for steamers , wouldn't be easy either if it weren't for that windmill !

Wish I knew what year that first picture was from .....Great picture ... Then I think about all the other machinery that would have been on display close by , seems like it may have been more interesting , at least to me , than the newest i-phone or A I ....
