Re: Corcoran windmill

Re: Corcoran windmill

This mill has 8 sections so I would guess that it is at least a 12 footer. I can see the similarities of an "Eclipse" style mill, but the Corcoran is definitely more robust especially on the spider. Nice curves on the tail and side vane gives it a little more distinctive look. Anyone have any more ...

Re: Corcoran windmill

These pictures are of the Corcoran Windmill in Las Cruces NMSU. The weight that they used is just an arm weight. No one there that I talked to seemed to know what it was supposed to be. These pictures were taken earlier this month.

Re: Corcoran windmill

What did the governor weight look like? Was it an "Eclipse" style/shape or round like on the USWE?

Re: V-47 Vestas Wind Turbine

Re: Twin Wheel

The black thing in the picture is the motor that will turn the wheels so that it will spin when it''s on display. If you look to the right of the motor you'll see the chain coupling that connects the two shafts together. The motor is mounted on an angle iron and the motor is bolted to the angle, but ...

Re: Twin Wheel

Oh btw, in the video where I'm turning down a piece of UHMW round stock, I made bushings to place in the couplings that hold the shafts together. There was too much slop because they were so worn out.

Re: Twin Wheel

The first time I took one of these apart it had those same bearings inside all the housings that the shafts went through. I never imagined I'd find replacements for them, but I went over to one of the local bearing houses and they asked me how many I wanted. Apparently it's a common stock item, but ...
