Re: Tower lightning protection?

I went to an Aermotor windmill that was available to buy on 33' tower and found the wood platform singed and burnt, one leg all the way to the ground had black carbon on it and a grass fire had occurred all around the tower. I didn't remove the helmet to look inside. Wish now I would have. Didn't ge...

Re: New Member: Fairbury Project

We have worked on Fairburys and have a few comments. When replacing the wheel shaft and the end that sticks out the small gear, some mills have a weak pean on the shaft end and when the pean fails you will find the wheel and shaft laying in your front yard. Re: Share vintage power inverter/rotary transformer

Interesting what 1200 volts was needed for back in the old days. Also 12 V input was not as common as 32 V
equipment.

Re: Aermotor hub tap

I haven't done this but a fellow visiting me said he fixed his A702 hub that had one hole stripped did this. He cut off the threaded end of the spoke and took a grade 5 3/8" bolt, that was 1-2" longer than what was cut off of the spoke, cut off the head and welded it to the spoke and then ...
