I've used Rustoleum with 97% zinc, so thought I would try instead the hammered Rustoleum but found the spray can does not indicate any zinc.

I went to an Aermotor windmill that was available to buy on 33' tower and found the wood platform singed and burnt, one leg all the way to the ground had black carbon on it and a grass fire had occurred all around the tower. We have worked on Fairburys and have a few comments. When replacing the wheel shaft and the end that sticks out the small gear, some mills have a weak pean on the shaft end and when the pean fails you will find the wheel and shaft laying in your front yard. Almost every small town in America that had a hardware store, lumberyard, plumbing shop, well driller, Implement dealer, etc, etc, would have a dealership to purchase an Aermotor windmill. The dealer would contact Chicago and the windmill parts were bundled with like items such as legs, girts, vane ...

I'm a little late with a reply. I have taken down many Eli towers and never had one with twisted wires for cross braces.

Interesting what 1200 volts was needed for back in the old days. Also 12 V input was not as common as 32 V

I haven't done this but a fellow visiting me said he fixed his A702 hub that had one hole stripped did this. He cut off the threaded end of the spoke and took a grade 5 3/8" bolt, that was 1-2" longer than what was cut off of the spoke, cut off the head and welded it to the spoke and then ...
