I looked at windmill parts .com and it appears to be a Butler direct stroke oil o matic. The cross head is oiled by a chain on the back geared model.

Sure! They are a life saver to chase threads with also you can get replacement thread inserts from dakota windmill they will save a hub if threads are stripped out.

It is really coming together nicely. I have a vane sheet and tailbone off of a large Samson. I was wondering if your tail bone has any numbers stenciled on it.

Many of the old ranches in our area had alamo iron/ or samsco pump jacks with gas engines for back up during the summer months. Like the building in the picture they would have the gas engine in a building and trap door they could run a flat belt through.It looks like to me that is a very old setup ...

cabletool-canon-drilling-3962945-h.jpg Here is pic of a old rig at the ranching heritage museum in Lubbock. On those larger rigs I guess they would bring in a engine on a wagon. I do know some of the old timers would power their rigs with a flatbelt off of the tractor they pulled the rig around with.
