Re: Windmill ID help
Glad it worked out.!
I think Jim Koch restored a Rex mill. They were made in Anderson, close to his home town. There is a friend of mine here that was raised in Anderson. It's a small world sometimes.

Re: Windmill Rookie
Also, if it's an Aermotor, any cast iron part will have a letter and number. Like A 602 or something. The letter is the size of the mill, the number is that part's number.

Easy on the steps until you are sure they will take your weight. They tend to slide down. Also, take an extra to the top. Looks like there's a space that could use one. No girt to step on.

Re: Windmill Rookie
Lots of reasons why it's a Monitor tower. I can make a list. But we will see in time.

Re: Windmill Rookie
I saw that. I think the helmet just got squished or something. The V arm for the wheel is bent back straight, so maybe it got tornadoed or something. I'm pretty sure it's a Monitor tower, they are notorious for having no X bracing in the top section. Appears to be an Aermotor platform, but you can s...

Re: Woodmanse Model 40
It is an Airmaster Woodmanse windmill. Appears to be a 6 ft model. That means 6 ft across the fan, (wheel) Very early ones were 6 1/2 ft, but they dropped that and went to 6 ft, 8 , 10, and 12 ft. They were fairly popular. MAde from about 1932 into the late 40's. Oil is carried to the front bearing ...

Re: Windmill Rookie
On second look, the head looks to be an Aermotor 602 model. MAde from 1916 till 1933.

Re: Windmill Rookie
Welcome! Wow, tall tower! They don't grow that tall around here. Appears to be an early Monitor tower. Not a Monitor head, I don't recognize it, but it's NOT Monitor. The head is on a stubtower, which is bolted to the tower legs. That's common. Originally, it would have had a Monitor mill on it, but...
