Re: Empire Windmill Mfg. Co.

Jerry,
Here's what little I have on file on Emery Mills. The copy of the patent I have is a very poor copy, so what you see here is as good as I can do.

Best regards,
Jim

I'd recommend a stop at the Dr Pepper museum while you're there as well.

Here's my 5 footer. I have a three leg tower for it but the storm stay is beyond help. I may have to add a fourth leg to the tower instead. Although, I was thinking maybe I should just set this up in my den as it is.

Yep, mine is an 8 footer. That's what I thought the 8 referred to as well.

Dan,
But is that realy a date? It says "Series No." Were there actually other series of Star 37's? Just another conundrum.

Re: F&W Steel Star 37: any way to find date of manufacture?

I had the same question regarding the one I restored a couple of years ago. This tag was on the bonnet. At the time no one was able to help with the details on the tag so never determined if the "8-3" gives any indication of a date of build.

Mike Werst was the only Texan also named in the article .
Mike also has a nice article in the current issue of the Windmillers' Gazette.

Re: Rollable stub mills subjections

Dan,
This is what I came up with. 36" square 3/4" plywood with steel casters. Largest mill I've used on these is an 8' F&W. The small casters work fine on a concrete floor.
