Im wondering what the vane buffer device purpose is .
And does it need to be adjusted for wind conditions.

The buffer device on all size Aermotor windmills is to keep the tailbone from slamming into the back, left side of the gear case. The counter to this is the tailbone spring, so with both working together, they eliminate violent movements of the tailbone in very strong winds. And, of course, the wheel offset on the mast pipe also works to slow down a high speeding wheel by turning the wheel away from the wind.

Hope this helps answer your question.
