If you do a search on North Dakota State Building Plans, it will take to a page where they have assembled dozens of plans from the land grant colleges over the years. If you go to the "Miscellaneous tab, plan #5411 & 5412" are for in ground cisterns from 1933. The plans appear to have been scanned into the system and are not real clear, but still interesting. There are plans for barns, houses, sale barns, gates and just about anything you can think of. Kind of fun to go through them.

Still use two cisterns on the farm today, 12’ diameter x20’ deep, IXL pumps, one with RA Aermotoor above
Cold water, colder than well

We had a Rancher who's place is close to Richland Tx make a talk at our Historical Society meeting Monday. His family has lived on the place for over 150 years. Said they still use the cistern's on the place.
