Another Oklahoma windmill pump

Post by PaulV »

My wife's grandfather gifted me this pump. He's had it a number of decades, purchasing it at some point in the past from a rancher west of Sharon, Oklahoma.

P/Ns are as follows:
D49 on the handle
U22 on the handle support
D77 on the spout
40E on the air chamber of the main pump body

Any thoughts on who manufactured this pump?

What is the purpose of the bell shape at the top of these pumps? A place for any air to compress?

All you can hope for is that someone recognizes the shape of the pump in order to find out who made the pump. More than one company took special orders to make pumps for different people that sold windmills with the company name, town name and etc. There are individuals that collect these pumps and usually pay a bonus for them.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

A person might find info if you went to the Historical Society in Oklahoma City or the Genealogy Center. We have lots of books dealing with what was built in Corsicana in ours. Takes some digging unless you can find someone that has lots of as I say useless info in their head.

I haven't been able to find anything on my Oklahoma pump. The mill it was under was sold by cook supply in okc. Find a lot of info on them but not the pump.

Have you searched old newspapers. These outfits did ads in newspapers It's amazing the info that is in them. I found out my Grand Pa Rogers sang with a qospel group here in Navarro Co in 1907-8.
