1903 RA Aermoter Project

Post by gregguy »

Found the mill in a shed in Cottage Grove Oregon.
Purchased the Dempster tower from John in Eagle Point Oregon
Fit the Aermotor stub to the 100 year newer tower.
Primary casting was so worn (egg shaped) it had to be line bored.
That is why the stub has new custom oil lite bearings.
Hope to crane hoist the mill up this fall.

Your model is an RA (Replaceable arms). The 1903 model is different than that one. The 1903 model had replaceable bearings that slid into the housing. The RA has bolt on bearings that can be rotated after use for a new bearing surface. Just saying....

Understand, but docs seem to show both models were made in 1903.
I have added RA to the subject line.............thanks for the input

Thought you might get a kick out of my engine host modification to hold the mill.
The wood is there to keep the mill from swinging to far.
What does a wind miller call the set of blades?

All the blades are called a wheel. The 3 blade groupings are called a section. Each blade is called a sail.
