Erecting the tower and motor

Post by Steve in Va »

Good morning. This is my first post so I hope this is the appropriate forum. I am completing the tower and 8 ft aermotor. In a few weeks I have a crane on-site for a separate project. Apparently the crane operator has some experience doing this.
Anyway, I would appreciate any advice or experience related to rigging for lift. My plan is to hoist the lower legs off the ground using my JD so I don't twist the legs. The crane will rig and lift vertical. So, to avoid damaging any portion of the mechanism or tail vane, what's the best rigging?
TIA.

Long strap just under the mast pipe base. 90 degrees from the furling mechanism.

This also takes a lot of weight off the legs of the tower. You still need to lift the bottom of the tower (two people) until the head/mill is hanging in the air by the crane.
