Rusty tailvane

Have a part you can't identify? Did your parts get mixed up in the shop? Curious if that chunk of metal is a part you should keep? Not sure what kind of windmill or tower you have? Post photos of the mystery object here for the community to help identify.

Anyone have a clue what windmill to which this might belong? Thanks in advance. Jim

Jim,

I saw that vane too on Craig’s List and had the same thought. No clue here.

Looks rather short and small. Maybe a wind generator?

Yea, I don't have it here to look at but I think I got one off a generator like that also, maybe a Zenith?

I saw the ad on craigslist and went to look at it yesterday. I'd not seen the shape before and the reason is its a homemade wind generator tail, heavy gauge steel. Came from around Sweetwater, Tx area. Even though its homemade, I liked it enough to take it home. For future reference, there's a pre-REA wind charger tail vane guide at the link below.

Glad you joined the forum Mike. It’s been a while since I picked that vane up but pretty sure the owner said it was off a wind gen. Not solid evidence so maybe I’ll work on embellishing the story.
