Butler open gear?

Have a part you can't identify? Did your parts get mixed up in the shop? Curious if that chunk of metal is a part you should keep? Not sure what kind of windmill or tower you have? Post photos of the mystery object here for the community to help identify.

Butler open gear?

Saw this open gear today when I was picking up some windmill parts a few blocks away. Looks like a Butler for which is kinda visible for being an oldie.

Butler Double Gear. Very heavy. If you get it, I could use a measurement for the sails. Mine are all torn off.
Looks to be in pretty good shape!
Call Dan Benjamin for parts. P M me for the phone number.

Relatives of mine tried to buy it in the past w/o success. Yeah for 110yrs old or older, it looks to be in good shape. Thanks.

I got a Butler double gear that came with a Chandler vane. Chandler was king here and almost every Pipe Raymond used them, Nelson was the only other one you normally see in my area. Nelsons are neat because they usually had the name of of the hardware store they were sold on them.

Get yourself a drone. They take great pictures and videos.

Mike,

Here are some more photos I had on my phone taken in Jan 2020. These are slightly better than the 2019 photos. It might be a week before I can try and take better photos.

Mike,

I took a number of photos which provide a better view/resolution of the head.
