New Executive Director at American Windmill Museum

Post by Windsmith »

On October 1, 2019 a new Executive Director will begin work at the American Windmill Museum.
Matthew McEwen is a native of Lubbock with a growing family and a desire to experience the success of
leading a world renowned alternative energy organization. He has earned a Master’s degree in Range Science and Management from Texas Tech University and has worked for Texas Tech for eleven years.

Mr. McEwen is replacing the original Executive Director, Coy Harris, who in 1993 established the Windmill Museum with Ms. Billie Wolfe. Mr. Harris will continue with the museum as Executive Director Emeritus on a part-time basis through 2020.

Harris directed the entire operation of the Windmill Museum for the last 26 years. He supervised the growth of this rare windmill collection, wind turbines and other related wind artifacts. During his tenure, the Windmill Museum has established itself as the largest and most comprehensive windmill museum in the world. Mr. McEwen will continue that growth and responsibility.

Mr. McEwen may be contacted through the museum office after October 1, 2019.
