Elgin Model R buffer rod

Post by Jim Corcoran »

Once again I need some help.
Does anyone have access to the buffer rod for a 8 foot Elgin model R? I need to fabricate a new rod for my mill (the original rod was cut off and mostly missing) and thus need a couple of dimensions.

What is the length of the longest section from the right angle bend to the end of the threaded end?
What is the length of the threaded section?

There was a small piece stuck in the ear on the case so I have the rod diameter. I could probably guess at the other measurements and make it work, but I'd like to be as close to the original as I can.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Dan,
Thanks for the response. Jimmie Lee called me and gave me the measurements I needed. I fabricated the rod and got it all installed. The "R" is finished, although I don't think I'm going to mount it on a tower. I need to get my WB up first.

Best regards,
Jim
