Came across this at the Round Top Antique Show today. How many things are wrong with this wincharger?

Is the prop wrong? looks to be an awful heavy piece to be hanging off the front of a 6 volt generator.

Wrong color? Haha

Generator head looks awfully open to the elements
Slip ring connection not there?
Nothing there to engage the furling/brake mechanism
No regulator for the current output

I have no experience whatsoever with these earlier units. I have a couple off grid customers with Jakes but have never went up to look at them

That is an aircraft prop.

It is an aircraft prop so it has the wrong pitch and it rotates the wrong way. Governor wouldn't work right if at all running backwards. All the early wind chargers I've encountered rotate clockwise (standing in front) with the exception of Jacobs. If you know of another let me know.
It has an automotive generator, you can see the mounting flanges...windings are a little different even if it is a 6V.
The lockout brake drum is on the back of the prop but it's missing the brake shoe lever that would be on the top of the generator. The tail doesn't fold on this model so the drum brake is needed to lock it out.
It is missing the tower brush cup...wrong colors as was pointed out otherwise its an authentic model 37.
Maybe it would work fine as a garden whirligig.

I know where there's a whole set-up of batteries in a basement, even with the bus bars. Old generator sitting by them also. I was supposed to buy them all years ago, but when I called him back, he backed....out. I was disapointed to say the least.

Been years. Don't know if he's even alive any more. Was going to sandblast a logo into them, and sell them as cookie jars. Just about the right size. Oh well, that was in another life.
