10 foot Marseilles Mfg Adams castings

Post by SDSpangler »

My neighbor gave me some old windmill parts out of his barn, which turned out to be a 10 foot Marseilles manufacturing Adams wood windmill. I have the wheel, wheel weights, pump rod, brace rods. Need main casting, hub, tower cap and stay, and other miscellaneous parts. Any help, pictures, patterns, or leads on parts greatly appreciated.

The Herrigs in Minnesota do a lot of wood wheeled mills. Anyone have a way of contacting them?

At one time, Paul Cowley had tons of stuff. Paul visits here, so he should see this. He did sell out tho, don't know what he has left.

Might try Dan B in S. Dakota. He can usually pull some oddball stuff out of his pocket.

Getting wooden parts for wood blades is kinda like pulling teeth. I wish I had got me a jig and learned how to make them myself.

Paul Cowley, Judd Herrig, and others have made them a lot in the past. I can't even put a nail in a 2X4 without splitting it.

There you go Wayne. You now have possibly another purpose in life. Paul has some pretty big shoes to fill. I bet you could do it.

I'll give it a shot. One of the biggest issues is getting the correct wood for the project.

Well I'm excited about that. Paul is a master at that woodworking stuff. It would sure be great for someone to carry that on.
