early Dempster #12

Post by windybob »

Brought it in today, took a few pictures. Not much detail yet, I got side tracked with other issues.

The early #12 used a one piece bell hub. Too bad they didn't keep using them as the later two piece hubs, the outer hub most always came loose. I sold one of these at the trade fair. Also the large gears rotate on large bolts mounted on the side of the gearbox instead of the center pedestal used later.

Dave, I would entertain any ideas you have on finding a hub.....

Internals do look good. More pics as I'm able. 24 hours ago, and nasty downburst blew though here, ( and I do mean blew) and we just got power an hour ago. ( sorry, 2 hrs. Time flies when the AC works.) Have more trees to deal with also, as we spent all morning excercising chainsaws.

Y'all might find something on FaceB about Ames.

Wayne, the picture thing worked! I had no idea, but then again, I'm a digital dunce.

Don't feel bad Windy I'm a low tech guy in a high tech world. I'm glad i was able to give some useful info to somebody. Bought me a 2014 Ford Expedition. Spent Wednesday night at a friends house and when I came out to his front pouch Thursday morning my vehicle was setting there running. I had no idea why. On my key ring there is an extra little gadget with a push button. They had told me it was some kind of extra Ford Security device. I'd never tried to see what it did afraid I'd lock myself out. It seems if you press the button it will lock the doors and start the vehicle. Getting dressed I'd somehow pushed the button. So my smart phone is smarter than me now my car is too.

Bob..I just bought a ton of old windmill stuff and there are some of those Dempster one piece hubs in the pile. Probably be 3-4 weeks before I can bring it home.
