Mike, I’ve been really struggling with this in as far as how much the shaft sticks out of the hub and the distance from snout end to where the gears will be running. After doing a test fit and going through the old pins I realized that the OLD PIN to hold the pinion gear on was 1/8” smaller than the hole diameter in the shaft. That lets the back pinion gear run in the right location. I would venture to say that sometime in the past when the main shaft was replaced that they didn’t get it in the exact location that it should have been. So they used a smaller diameter pin in the back to compensate for the distance needed.

Or you can take a regular size pin and grind it flat on the gear side. Or drill the hole a little bigger. Installing a new mainshaft is a bit more precise than some think. I keep those kinds of measurements in a file.

Windy, I was thinking of using a 3/8” pin and milling a 1/8” flat on it

Sounds ok if that's the right size for an E. The thrust is usually the other way any how.

It’s been a chore getting it back to this point. But it’s getting closer.

Great! How hard was it to pull the last section of the wheel together?
