Dempster Motor Housing
Re: Dempster Motor Housing
That is a later model Dempster, no problem on rebuilding. Pinion gears look sharp, no surprise there. Bull gears look good. Front seal is out. Crosshead pin is shot. It appears at the moment that both bearings are not destroyed. If you want an easier way to dismantle it, let me know.

Re: Dempster Motor Housing
I was able to get most of the gearbox apart today. Gears looked pretty good. The bearings weren’t terrible. The pins on the pitman arms had some wear. I haven’t figured out how to get the spider off the main shaft yet.

Re: Dempster Motor Housing
Dempster uses a tapered key on the hub. Push the shaft out the front of the hubs. Is the hub tight on the shaft? it needs to be. If it's a little loose when the bolt is in it, that won't do. Flip the shaft over on re assembly.
