Hmmm ... I cant remember how the spring attaches to the vane.
I have seen several like this, and it is probably not right (that might even be mine in Ivan's driveway):
I also have this pic:

I think that second picture is the ticket a longer rod to the vane. Does anyone else have any pictures of what the attachment part is supposed to look like?
Re: Flint & Walling 12
I put an ad in the windmillers gazette and a fellow from Indiana responded. He sent me the measurements for the tail irons, the latch trip thing, 2 of the bottom swivel castings and a spring. The spring is not in good shape but I'm having a neeew one made. Dan B is sending me a broken top swivel casting and the missing oil cup covers. It's on the way. Then I should have everything. I just need to figure out this attachment and up she goes one piece at a time. This vane is huge I hope I'm strong enough to mount it up there. I really want to thank you guys for all your patience and help. I couldn't have done it without all your pictures and measurements.

It's coming together boys! Put it all together on my stub tower it runs smooth and quiet. Just have to paint the spring and make the pull rods. Word of advice... make sure the stub tower is big enough. The first time I put it together it toppled over lucky I didn't break any castings

Call Dan Benjamin for parts. P M me for the phone number. IF YOU TALK TO HIM, AND HE HELPS YOU, THEN BUY FROM HIM. IT CREATES GOOD KARMA.
Re: Flint & Walling 12
When you put the mainframe up, you need to try to have the tailbone and vane on it before it goes up. If not, it's a pain in the you know what! Ask me how I know.

I have no crane for this one. Plus where it's going there are trees all around. I'm gonna have to rope it up piece by piece. The tail is going to be the toughest piece but I think I have a system. Oh and I'm a Dutchman, very stubborn! My cousin has been with his finger in the duke holding back the north sea for hundreds of years. I'll get that thing up there one way or another!
