Powermill in Wisconsin ID help please
Re: Powermill in Wisconsin ID help please
For some reason I still cannot enlarge those 3 pics.
Keep your eyes open for any possible iron pieces. If they saved the wheel, they probably saved the hub for the wheel.

Gravel hill it's a pretty good chance your power mill is a monitor for these reasons. 1 now I see a picture of the tailvane it looks just like old monitor i passed up on buying one a few years back. 2-from what I can tell from the picture of the wheel it turns counter clockwise. 3-heavy cast iron.also i believe they were from Wisconsin if my memory serves me right. That's just my opinion for what it's worth!

The vane in the old pics makes me think Ideal or Mast Foos Imperial(ish). Maybe Woodmanse.
Thanks,
Ed

Mr Ed i think we can out rule mast foos imperial I've seen those wheels my friend in Ohio has one the sail braces are ribbon looking. I think we can also out rule the Stover ideal the sail ties are different and the mill turns clockwise. I can't out rule Woodmans cause I've never dealt or seen one other than pics
Re: Powermill in Wisconsin ID help please
I can find out where information and pictures are if needed. I was thinking Ideal, but yes, the wheel turns CCW.

Ok, lucky with Monitor and Baker Mfg Co.
Even though Baker had a power mill out way before, it was wooden. The first listing of a Steel one is 1905. The best book you need seems to be popular, in 1909 Catalog #39, with 168 pages of pictures, and descriptions. It is in 6 places in the US. Tx.(2) Wash DC, Pittsburg, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
Which one or all of them do you want?
