West Gomeldon windmill

Post by terryj »

Hello, I'm Terry
I live near to West Gomeldon mill and have recently found a picture which although in the local archives grouped with other pictures of the mill, i believe is possibly not Gomeldon mill. I have attached some photos and a print of Gomeldon mill together with the spurious one which is the picture with the sails shown. I would be most grateful for your expert considerations.
thanks
terry

Welcome terryj. That looks a lot different than our American windmills. I have thought several times about reading up on them. Seems like when I see one I always think Holland. Did they use them mostly for milling grain?

Look at projects- windmills, the post for, tower height options for a picture of my 2 windmills. rockingjl

I think they also used them for pumping water from low ares for more farm land.
