The stop rod on mine is original. 24 inches long just like the measurements you sent. It looks like the stop rod stops it at 90 degrees but the bump on the tailbone casting won't allow it to go that far. I'm stumped

Talked to Dan Benjamin and he confirmed what I suspected. Had to trim the castings a little. I really don't like to alter original castings but I could see no alternative. I shaved a little off of the stop chunks on the top swivel and brake arm castings. I made sure the round stop rod contacted first as there are little shock springs on the sheave stand to take up some of the impact should the pull out cable break. That's a lot to ask of the little nub on the top swivel casting to stop 8 feet of vane. I suspect that is why this piece is often broken. I put grease nipples into the shaft rather than into the original cast. So I'll sit and look at it a little longer, a little touch up painting, and up she goes piece by piece. Still have to true up and concrete in the tower.

I am finally starting on the power Mill. There is going to be a lot of work to do.

After a ton of work, an intense hunt for missing parts, and a lot of help from you guys, its finally up. Dream come true. I can see it from my kitchen window. It looks fabulous. I still have to hook up my pump and figure out the regulator mechanism. There is no well under this one but i figured i might bury a plastic barrel or two with a stock tank and recirulate water just to make it look like it is doing something. Any ideas on how to do this would be cool.

You can make a cylinder using 1 7/8 inch pumping valve and 2 inch grey schedule 80 pipe. You can use a regular check valve or an inline 1inch check valve bought from a plumbing supply. I have built some to use with my pumps being rum my gas engines.
