Ever since I was a little boy, 3/4 years old, I’ve been fascinated with windmills. I would draw them and count how many I could find along the highway going on road trips. Fast forward 25 years or so and here I am taking my first windmill down. My new hobby is finally beginning. I scored a bucket truck with jib crane for $2,000 from local city sealed bid auction!

Congratulations Matt on your first windmill.Tower looks to be a challenge that's been stubbed with either a 602 or 702 aermoter. It's hard to tell on my phone but I'm guessing a 702.. Lots of help if needed on this forum do not hesitate. Thanks for the pics.

After blowing it up, I think it's a 702. I think that's a good call on the tower Dan.

Correct call on removing the head only when you have a broken stem. Do the same if you have a broken main shaft. It is amazing what will stay on top of a tower when vertical and come off when the tower & mill gets horizontal on laydown. That is one of few heads that didnt sunflower when the mast broke. It wobbled badly enough to clean off most of the blades.
It should be late 30s thru early 50s 702. There is a tower leg angle overlap on each X so a Challenge tower is questionable.
Pretty beefy looking rig. With that vintage of Ford gasser you wont be tempted to get too far from home with widowmaker rims. Put a hyphen between the M and I on the vanity plate to eliminate the obvious...

Ron i have two Dandy towers and on both towers the X braces were where the corner angles over lapped.
