Good morning everyone!
I recently salvaged my grandfathers old windmill, in advance of the bulldozers pushing Calgary, Alberta, Canada's limits farther into the countryside.
What I am looking to do is fix it up (re-do the lettering, maybe a dash of paint?) and make it 'functional', but not pump water. I also managed to retrieve the original cast iron pump.. more on that later.
I'm sure I'll have heaps of questions on this next winter, but for now I'd like to establish what it is I am actually dealing with.
Our family thinks its dated to around the early 50's and as you can see in the photos we know its a Dempster Annu-oil (???) 8 - No. 12.
I would appreciate any dates, feedback, comments or information you can provide - I'm all ears!!!!!
Thank you kindly,

I'm not too familiar with loading pictures, I right-clicked on the "Image" icon and clicked "Open Image in New Tab".... hopefully that works for everyone!

If you can take a shot of the top of the snout from the back. Want to see if there is a grease cup there. Looks like maybe it's the 'improved case' of a bit later model. The wheel is fairly early, no ribs on the outer end of the sails. At this point, looks like a good rebuilder. Or at least certain things cleaned and the presumably older type front seal bolstered up.

That is an old Baker Monitor tower with those steps. Likely the Dempster went on to replace the Baker Monitor that was originally on the tower.

Looks like you have enough of the lettering to clean and paint over with a good quality black paint, Just takes time and a semi steady hand.
