Platform for 3-legged Aermotor Tower

Generally speaking, this area is for general discussion about windmills, in most cases.

Platform for 3-legged Aermotor Tower

Post by JBarker »

I'm looking for any pics of a steel or wooden platform for a 3-legged Aermotor tower. Is there any old Aermotor catalog or literature showing the platforms? Any diagrams or dimensions would help? Thanks

Jerry, I have no idea if this platform is original since this is my first experience with a windmill. Let me know if it is what you are looking for. I can take measurements and better pics if needed. John

Thanks Mike. I've been concerned that a 10 foot fan on a 30 foot tower would look to big for my 3.5 acre property. Ideally I wanted a 6 or 8 foot fan but windmills are scarce here. I was happy to get this one. I appreciate your opinion.

Jerry my 8ft 3 legged tower the platform is gone but the three L bolts are there. I'm assuming the boards over lapped and bolted together. The L bolts are 40 inches from the top and 4 1/2 by 3 inches long.

Here are what the pieces look like. They are make of 1”x12” boards. Then the narrow side is for access from the ladder and that’s a 1”x6”. Lots of 3 legged towers around here. This one I have cut out is for an 8’ tower. I’d have to check and see if it’s the same dimensions for the 10’ mills.

Thank you everyone for the pics and wisdom.

I talked with Aermotor and they have fabricated a steel platform for a 3-legged tower recently. They will start selling them on their website soon after they get the test one galvanized and work out all the bugs. Please post if you find the wooden platform in any of the Aermotor catalogs or literature for reference. Thanks

Jerry , when the Aermotor Co folks come down to Poteete in September that's the kind of indo & desplays they need to bring , The guys who actgually "sell" and install this stiff need to be educated what is available , newest additions to their inventory .
My thought , Mike B
