They drive in one way, and to remove, you must be careful which way that you push certain things. Of course, if you push the wrong way the key gets tighter, and things break. I know all about that. lol

You apparently have the Beatty experience here. I just finally got the gear case free off the mast.
My question is how many ball bearings are in the race on the bottom ?

12 half inch balls go in there. What condition is the mast pipe in? Sometimes they are really worn and need to be fixed.

Thankyou for the info on the balls. There was only 11 but they are pitted and will be replaced. The race looks very serviceable. The mast might be 1/8 out. is that too much?
Got a little more cleaning on the Beatty 39/42 mill. Is this screw access for oil or grease on FB 12? Piece has a break but I have another from the older unit

Looking good Jerry. I would say you could use either Oil or Grease !!!

On the ones that go back up in the air, I put a grease fitting there and also one under the case where that grease cup is
